Cereal Smackdown: Favorites forge ahead; Trix tripped up

Cereal Smackdown Bracket - PDF

There was some tough competition during last week’s Cereal Smackdown that was not at all sweet for half of the 16 contenders.

Tony the Tiger stayed greatttt in his Frosted Flakes match up against Golden Puffs with a handy 110 to 37 win; but sunny skies turned gray for Raisin Bran as Cheerios pulled ahead, 87 to 65. Frosted Flakes and Cheerios will face each other in the next round to determine the Tony the Tiger divisional winner.

Snap, Crackle and Pop couldn’t crush the Cap’n, as Rice Krispies lost to Cap’n Crunch 88 to 62. While Cheerios heads to the next round, Honey Nut Cheerios wasn’t so fortunate. In a close race, Honey Nut Cheerios was bested by underdog Frosted Mini Wheats, which won by a single vote, 75 to 74. Frosted Mini Wheats now faces a tough battle against fan favorite and division leader Cap’n Crunch in the Elite 8.

Cinnamon Toast Crunch couldn’t keep its lucky streak alive, losing to Lucky Charms 81-66. In a tough to watch match, Life slaughtered Vanilla Chex 111-35. Life will need that momentum as it goes up against Lucky Charms for the Lucky Charms divisional race.

Trix and its silly rabbit, which had so far led the Trix Rabbit division, fell against Apple Jacks in a close 72-70 match. Apple Jacks will face Special K Red Berries for the division championship as Special K Red Berries beat Kix in another close one, 74-73.

The battle-worn breakfast foods must shake off the cereal dust and get ready for another round of competition this week as the Final Four inches closer. The only way to ensure your favorite will make it through to the next round is to vote at inland 360.com.
