Major record label executives and Grammy winners like Ricky Skaggs and Michael W. Smith are among those scheduled to be in the audience next month when Chad Bramlet performs in Nashville.

Bramlet, 34, is applying to join the Extreme Tour, a traveling festival that combines extreme sports and live music in an effort to reach at-risk youth.

Out of 1,000 applicants, Bramlet is among about 20 chosen to perform in the final stages of the process. With plans to join the tour this summer, he will have a concert at 8 p.m. Friday, April 17 in Lewiston for his hometown audience.

“It will be a lot of fun. A lot of times when I play in the valley it is just me and my guitar. This will be with our full band playing the music how it was meant to be played. It will be high-energy,” Bramlet said.

The Nashville concert will be held at Michael W. Smith’s private venue in mid-May. Bramlet and other musicians will also attend workshops. He said he was invited to Nashville a day early to spend time with Tom Jackson, a live music producer who has worked with Taylor Swift and other major names.

“The opportunities the tour opens up, the possibilities, are pretty cool,” he said. It will be a busy month for Bramlet, whose wife, Alicia, is due to deliver their eighth child, a girl, the week before.

“We may have a small baby and a new mom going along,” he said.
