As the nights grow longer and the days get cooler, the local arts scene is heating up. Here’s a quick look at just a few of the things happening today and throughout the coming week.

Thursday

MOSCOW — Old timey fiddle player Brit Keeton of the Woolly Breeches will perform and offer workshops Thursday at the Attic, 314 E. Second St.

The 4 p.m. workshop will offer tunes taught by ear and focus on bowing, ornamentation and the stories that travel with the music. It’s also open to mandolinists and other like-minded musicians.

The Woolly Breeches, a Bellingham, Wash., duo, will play at 7 tonight at the Attic, taking listeners on a journey through dark-hearted Appalachian ballads, country classics and more. Admission to both the concert and workshop are by free will

Friday

LEWISTON — The Fourth Wall Studio Art Gallery will showcase a First Friday exhibit featuring the debut of Lewiston artist Zane Reel. From 5 to 9 p.m. there will be live music, food and drinks at 832 Main St. Reel’s surreal mixed-media art has a comic book-like feel. Friday/Saturday

MOSCOW — The 2016 Palouse Women’s Expo Girl’s Night Out will feature comedians Debbie Praver and Mallory Wallace Friday night at the Best Western Plus University Inn.

Praver has shared the stage with Kathy Griffin and performs regularly at the Improv at Harrah’s in Las Vegas, headlines “An Evening of Sarcasm and Stand Up” in Los Angeles and is the host of the “I Know, Right???” podcast on iTunes.

Wallace was crowned the Funniest Comedian of 2015 in Fort Collins, Colo., where she is a regular performer at the Boot Grill and Comedy Club. This year she was named Comic to Watch 2016 in the Denver Comedy Awards.

The expo opens at 5 p.m. with comedians taking the stage at 7. Admission is $25 and includes early entry to all the booths, finger food and the show. Tickets are available by calling (208) 882-0550 or visiting the University Inn at 1516 Pullman Road. The expo continues from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday with free admission to booths and presentations.

Sunday

UNIONTOWN — Artists and authors will gather at the Artisans at the Dahmen Barn Sunday for a book signing and opening of the gallery’s latest exhibit from 1 to 3 p.m. “Amici” is an exhibit of works in two different media by two friends who are resident artists at the barn. Kassie Smith of Moscow will exhibit her functional and sculptural pottery and Christine Alexandre-Zeoli of Uniontown will show her new abstract oil paintings. Smith earned a master of fine arts degree at the University of Idaho, and teaches ceramics there.

Karen Erwin Griffith of Troy and Julene Ewert of Moscow will sign copies of their children’s book, “The Friendship Song.” Griffith is author and Ewert is illustrator, and this is Griffith’s fifth book.

The barn is at 419 N. Park way along U.S. Highway 195. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday through Sunday.

COTTONWOOD —The Gonzaga University Concert Choir will perform “ ‘Unclouded Day,’ American Folk Hymns and Spirituals” at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Monastery of St. Gertrude. The award-winning choir, one of four at the university, tours throughout the Pacific Northwest. It will also provide music for the 10:30 a.m. Mass. Admission is free. !
