There’s some music on our horizon, among other events over the next week. Check these out and take a gander at the online calendar for more stuff to do.
April 11
Poet Stephen Pitters of Spokane will talk about his poetry and music in a presentation at 5:30 p.m. April 11 in the Moscow Public Library.
His talk, “Four Decades of Life in One Book,” also will feature visual art and sculptural artistic presenations.
Pitters has published six books of poetry with his latest titled “The Eye of the Spirit,” and he produces poetry, prose and music events at Shadle Library in Spokane.
The library is at 110 S. Jefferson St.
April 12-13
The annual Spring Arts and Crafts Fair, planned for Mom’s Weekend, will be April 12-13 in the concourse of Beasley Coliseum on the Pullman campus of Washington State University.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. April 12 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 13.
April 13
The annual Lewiston Library Foundation’s Gala begins when doors open at 5:30 p.m. April 13 on the second floor of the downtown library.
The event, with the theme of “Black & White and Read All Over,” features food and beverages. Each ticket is $100 and makes the holder eligible for five drawings through the evening.
The library is at 411 D St.
April 13-14
A rapid sellout for rapper and singer Nelly’s April 13 concert prompted the scheduling of a second show at 7 p.m. April 14 at the Clearwater River Casino events center in Lewiston.
Since his 2000 solo debut album “Country Grammar,” Nelly has garnered two Grammy awards, and his recordings are multimillion sellers.
Admission cost is $25, $35 or $50, and tickets are available at the casino box office or online at TicketsWest.com. The casino is at 17500 Nez Perce Road.
April 13-14
The Palouse Choral Society will perform “Requiem” by the French composer Maurice Durufle in two concerts April 13-14 on the University of Idaho campus in Moscow.
The choral group will be joined by the UI Vandaleers and Orchestra for “Requiem” and other classical favorites in the concerts at 7:30 p.m. April 13 and 4 p.m. April 14 in the UI’s Administration Building auditorium.
Admission cost is $20 regular price, $8 for students, and free for ages 6-12, and UI Music Department students and faculty. Tickets may be purchased online at www.palousechoralsociety.org.
April 15-May 1
Folksinger and storyteller Tracy Morrison of southern Idaho will give a presentation titled “Historical Idaho Women Stories & Folksongs” at seven libraries in the Latah County Library District beginning April 15 in Potlatch and concluding May 2 in Juliaetta.
Morrison’s subjects include Sacajawea, Polly Bemis, Kittie Wilkins and Pegleg Annie, and her presentations include brief introductory stories followed by original songs about each woman.
All presentations are at 6 p.m. Morrison’s schedule includes: April 15 at Potlatch Public Library; April 16 at Bovill Community Library, April 17 at Genesee Community Library; April 18 at Deary Community Library; April 30 at Moscow Public Library; May 1 at Troy Community Library; and May 2 at Juliaetta Community Library.
