CLARKSTON The Clarkston High Drama Club will stage its spring play based on the beloved 1952 movie musical Singin In The Rain beginning at 7 tonight in the CHS auditorium.
The comedy details the difficult and sometimes hilarious time in Hollywood when films were making the transition from silent movies to talkies. Don Lockwood and Lina Lamont are huge in silent films, and Lina thinks theyre a couple off-screen as well, but Don isnt interested. In making the transition to talkies, the studio enlists wholesome young acting hopeful Kathy Selden to dub Linas grating voice for their new film.
The CHS production stars Cooper Knutson, Rachel Lauzon and Andrew Thompson, and is directed by Larry Goodwin.
Additional shows will be at 7 p.m. Friday, Saturday, Wednesday, next Thursday and April 21.
Admission is $12 regular price and $10 for students and seniors. Clarkston High School is at 401 Chestnut St.
April 14
PULLMAN Pullman Civic Theatre will stage Neil Simons 1963 comedy Barefoot in the Park beginning at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Nye Street Theatre here.
The Pullman production is directed by Gary Thoren and tells the story of newlyweds, Paul and Corie Bratter (played by Lucy Kompaniyets and Kyle Lorenzano, actors who are a married couple). Paul is a straight-as-an-arrow lawyer while Corie is a free spirit.
Additional performances are 7:30 p.m. Saturday, next Thursday, April 21 and 22, and 1 p.m. April 22 in the theater at 1220 N.W. Nye St.

LEWISTON Steven Branting, a Lewiston historian and author, will sign copies of his latest book from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at Rosauers here.
Brantings book, Our Fruitful Dreams: The Lewiston Orchards As It Once Was, is a historical look at the southern portion of Lewiston. Rosauers is at 322 Thain Road.

MOSCOW The ninth annual Beans n Jeans dinner and auction fundraiser to benefit Palouse Habitat for Humanity will be from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Schweitzer Engineering Laboratory Event Center here.
The event features a casual barbecue dinner catered by CDs Smokepit and live bluegrass music, as well as silent, live and dessert auctions.
Cost is $40 per person, and tickets are available online at www.palousehabitat.org.
The event center is at 1825 Schweitzer Drive.

LEWISTON The film Poverty, Inc. will be screened at 6 p.m. Wednesday in Room 115 of Sacajawea Hall on the Lewis-Clark State College campus here.
The free showing will be followed by a panel discussion, including questions from the audience. The panel will be led by Stuart Gillin, LCSC American Enterprise Institute Executive Council member and LCSC student, and will include LCSC professors William Schlosser, Leif Hoffman and Darci Graves.
Refreshments will be provided.
The film draws on more than 200 interviews in 20 countries to provide a view of the economic, political and social issues in the fight against world poverty, according to a news release.
The AEI is a public policy think tank based in Washington, D.C., and AEI Executive Councils are made up of college students across the country.
