PULLMAN — The Washington State University Press will hold its 25th annual holiday book fair from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 8 in the Terrell Library Atrium on campus here.
The fair highlights books published throughout the year and features free refreshments and drawings for free books.
Jamie Callison, author and WSU executive chef, will attend to sign copies of his 2013 cookbook, “The Crimson Spoon.”
WSU Press was founded in 1928 and concentrates on telling stories about the Northwest.
Dec. 9
MOSCOW — The annual University of Idaho Jazz Choirs Holiday Concert will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Dec. 9 in the ASUI Kibbie Dome here.
Joining the UI Jazz Choirs for the popular performance will be more than 500 elementary, junior high, and high school choir members from around the region. The concert also will include UI’s Alpine Carillons, the Holiday String Orchestra and Jazz Band IV.
Admission is free, but cash donations will be accepted to benefit the Lionel Hampton School of Music at UI.
A partnership between the UI and Idaho Public Television will result in the airing of a 60-minute edited version of the performance at 9 p.m. Tuesday on IPTV channels, including KUID in Moscow. The program will be re-broadcast throughout the month.
Dan Bukvich, professor of percussion and theory at UI and director of the jazz choir, is creative director for the holiday concert.
Dec. 10
MOSCOW — The Winter Market will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 10 at the 1912 Center here, 412 E. Third St.
More than 30 artisan food and craft vendors are expected outside on Pall Plaza, and inside the center. Lunch also will be available for purchase from MELA, featuring a variety of Bangladeshi specialties.
Free tours of the upper floors of the center, which are awaiting renovation, will be conducted at 11 a.m., noon and 1 p.m. Tours will leave from the senior center.
Dec. 13
PULLMAN — Community Band of the Palouse will play its annual Holiday Concert beginning at 7 p.m. Dec. 13 in the Gladish Community and Cultural Center auditorium here.
The band will perform classic holiday favorites and will be joined by Kathleen Ahern, youth services librarian at Pullman’s Neill Public Library, who will read “ ’Twas the Night Before Christmas.”
The program will include a visit from Santa Claus.
Admission is by donation of nonperishable food items collected for Pullman food banks.
The center is at 115 N.W. State St.
Dec. 14
MOSCOW — The 2014 historical drama “Coming Home” is the next film on tap for Chinese Movie Night which begins at 7 p.m. Dec. 14 at the Kenworthy Performing Arts Centre here.
The film is free and features a brief introduction by University of Idaho Confucius Institute’s visiting instructors from South China University of Technology. Following the film, there will be an opportunity for audience discussion.
The center is at 508 S. Main St.
