The weather has changed, and that means it’s outdoor concerts season. Grab your lawn chair and take in some tunes. Of course, there’s still stuff to do inside. After all, it’s gotta rain sometime.

June 6

First Thursdays return to downtown Colfax June 6, featuring a variety of activities for adults and children, including live music, vendors and fish painting.

Street vendor sales downtown will begin at 3 p.m., with a Fish Painting Party from 3 to 5:30 p.m. being held in the Center at Colfax Library, 102 S. Main St. All ages may join in painting one of hundreds of fish that will hang on the fence that surrounds the Palouse River as it flows through town. The painting party is part of the Colfax Art Council’s community mural project.

Sammy Eubanks, a member of the Inland Empire Blues Society Hall of Fame, will play blues and country music beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Spring Street. A beer/wine garden will open at 5:30 p.m.

Wide Stance

The Lewiston-based band Wide Stance will play from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. June 7 as Sound Downtown begins another season of music in Lewiston’s Brackenbury Square.

The series is held on the first Friday of each month through October. Attendees are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket for seating, and the event will feature beverages, including beer and wine, available for sale.

The band, which formed in 2013, includes Dusty Katzenberger, Stefan Jarocki, Curtis Boyer and Luke Nuxoll, according to its social media page.

June 7

Red White & Brewfest, featuring 32 craft beers and ciders on tap, will be from 5 to 9 p.m. June 7 outdoors at the Nez Perce County Fairgrounds in Lewiston.

The event, for those 21 and older, will feature live music, free rides home and food available for purchase by Happy Day Corp. The evening also will include tastes of local wines.

Cost is $20 in advance and $25 at the gate. A ticket will give the holder a free glass and 10 tokens to exchange for samples.

Tickets may be purchased at Rosauers in Lewiston, Riverport Brewery in Clarkston and online at lewistonbrewfest.com.

June 8

The sixth season of Science Saturdays in the Arboretum kicks off with the first of three sessions from 9:45 a.m. to 11 a.m. June 8 at the University of Idaho Arboretum on the Moscow campus.

Saturday’s topic, “Amphibians & Reptiles: Diversity in the City,” will be led by Travis Seaborn and Meghan Parsley as they explain which amphibians and reptiles call the arboretum home. Participants will meet at the Red Barn at the south end of the arboretum.

Programs are free, and children ages 12 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. Each program is limited to 25 children.

The other two dates and topics are:

-- Aug. 10 — “Macroinvertebrates: Who Lives in This Water?” by Mel Topping and Aly Bean

The Senders, specialists in covers of hits from the 1950s and ’60s, will start off the annual Summer Concert Series from 7 to 9 p.m. June 8 at Artisans at the Dahmen Barn in Uniontown.

Band members are Hal Logan on drums and vocals, Jim Roberts on guitar, Jon Anderson on keyboards/guitar and Mark Snodgrass on bass.

Cost is $15 and doors will open at 6 p.m. Food, wine, beer and snacks will be available for purchase.
The barn is at 419 N. Park Way.

June 8-9

Works by 13 artists from around the region will be featured in “Pure,” in a two-day exhibit June 8 and 9 at the Little Pink House Gallery in Genesee. Hours of the exhibit are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

New work by Moscow artists Casey Doyle and Mario Montes will be featured. Montes, a graphic artist, illustrator and paper sculptor, will exhibit works on paper, while Doyle, a multimedia artist and associate professor of art and design at the University of Idaho in Moscow, will show new clay works.

Other painters exhibiting include Annie Coe of New Mexico; Jeanne Fulfs, Aaron Johnson and Lauren McCleary, all of the Palouse; and Ellen Vieth, gallery owner. Other exhibitors are ceramics by Jill Birschbach and Melissa Mytty, sculptures by David Herbold and Stacy Isenbarger, and jewelry by Krista Brand and Nara Croft.

The gallery is at 157 N. Elm St.
