Dance, music, memoirs and more handbell. It’s going to be a busy week.
March 21-23
The 28th version of DancersDrummersDreamers at the University of Idaho in Moscow is titled “Imagination!” and will be staged March 21-23 at the Hartung Theater on campus.
The DancersDrummersDreamers Ensemble uses the backs of chairs for percussion during the 2018 performance.
This year’s production, a collaboration between UI music and dance students, will be staged at 7:30 tonight through Saturday with a 2 p.m. matinee Saturday. More than 50 UI students will perform during the event, which will not have an intermission this year.
The show features original choreography and compositions, and is a family-friendly modern vaudeville show, according to a news release. Erinn Liebhard, guest choreographer-in-residence during the recent UI jazz festival, created a dance titled “Intersection Riff” to Ray Wetzel’s “Intermission Riff,” a Big Band swing piece. This show-closer will feature 10 UI dancers plus a modified swing band.

March 22
Washington State University’s Faculty Artist Series continues the evening of March 22 with a concert by Fatt Jazz in the Kimbrough Concert Hall on the Pullman campus.
The 8 p.m. show will feature jazz fusion guitarist Brad Ard, and jazz fusion electric bassist Dave Snider, both WSU faculty members, joined by jazz drummer Dan Smith. Ard and Snider have created arrangements and compositions for this concert.
The concert set list includes:
“Frankenstein” by Edgar Winter, and arranged by Ard/Snider; “Little Wing” by Jimi Hendrix, arranged by Ard; “Enter” by Ard; “Bright Size Life” by Pat Metheny; “A Night in Tunisia” by Dizzy Gillespie, arranged by Ard/Snider; “Europa” by Carlos Santana; “Feel Like Makin Love” by Eugene McDaniels, arranged by Ard; “Now She’s Blonde” by John Scofield; and “Led Boots” by Jeff Beck.
Proceeds from series ticket sales benefit the School of Music Scholarship Fund. Admission cost is $10 regular price, $5 for ages 55 and older, and non-WSU students; and free for WSU students with ID.
March 23
A “Save the Rodeo” fundraiser aimed at helping bring rodeo to Kamiah will be from 5 p.m. to midnight March 23 at the Kamiah American Legion Hall.
The evening, sponsored by the Clearwater Valley Roundup Association, will feature dinner, silent auction, drawings and karaoke with Lightning Larry.
The dinner menu includes a choice of tacos, taco salad, nachos and beverages. Cost is $5 per person or $25 per family. Tickets may be purchased in advance at Bartholomew Chiropractic along Main Street in Kamiah or at the door.
The hall is at 618 Main St.
March 23
If you’ve always wanted more handbell, March 23 is your day. The Inland Northwest Handbell Concert begins at 7 p.m. Saturday at Simpson United Methodist Church in Pullman.
The free concert features a massed bell choir of more than 60 musicians participating in a workshop. The choir is under the direction of workshop leader Matthew Compton.
The church is at 325 NE Maple St.
March 26
Janet Richards of Moscow will give a presentation titled “Writing a Memoir Later in Life” from 5 to 6:30 p.m. March 26 at BookPeople of Moscow, 521 S. Main St.
Richards is author of two memoirs, “Crossing the River Sorrow: One Nurse’s Story” (Westbow 2013) and “Only A Shadow” (Westbow 2018). She will read from her work and talk about her experience of writing and publishing two memoirs in her 60s.
