MOSCOW — DancersDrummersDreamers, the University of Idaho’s 26th annual dance concert, opens at 7:30 p.m. March 23 in the Hartung Theater on campus here.
The show will feature a new work, “Run, Walk, Vibe(s),” by Melanie George, a Washington, D.C., choreographer. The show also will be staged at 7:30 p.m. March 24 and 25, as well as at 2 p.m. March 25.
George was the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival Dance Artist-in-Residence in February where she taught jazz dance workshops to festival participants and spent the week creating her newest choreography for seven UI dancers. They will perform it with a vibraphonist on stage with them as part of DDD’s show “Conversations” this weekend.
Guest choreographers from Moscow are Celadon Wood, Judy Drown and tap dancer/choreographer Tim Malm.
Cost is $12 regular price, $10 for seniors, and $8 for students and youth. Tickets may be purchased at the UI ticket office, (888) 8UI-DAHO.
March 24
PULLMAN — Nine graduates of Washington State University’s School of Hospitality Business Management will participate in a panel discussion at 2 p.m. March 24 in the Compton Union Building auditorium on campus here.
The panel is part of the annual Burtenshaw Distinguished Lecture Series, and the participants will speak about “perspectives from the past to frame the future,” according to a news release.
Panel participants include John Ascuaga (’52), former owner and emeritus chairman, Nugget Hotel-Casino; Stan Boyd (’77), owner/winemaker, Boyd Family Winery; Chris Burdett (’90), senior vice president, CBRE Hotels; Jerry Burtenshaw (’56), chairman, ABC Services; Dwight Call (’56), retired president, Westin Hotels and Resorts; Larry Culver (’64), retired chairman/chief executive officer, Inn Ventures Inc.; Tom Drumheller (’75), chief executive officer, Escape Lodging; Jerry Jaeger (’70), president, Hagadone Hospitality Corporation; and Craig Schafer (’76), owner, Hotel Andra & Inn at the Market.
March 24 and 26
PULLMAN — “Other Earths,” a look at the search for planets, will be the next show at the Washington State University Planetarium at 7 p.m. March 24 and 5 p.m. March 26 on the WSU campus here.
The presentation provides an update on the continuing search for planets in the Milky Way, according to the planetarium website.
The planetarium is in Room 231 of Sloan Hall. Admission is $5 (cash or check only) with ages 6 and younger admitted free.
March 25
KAMIAH — The annual Hometown ICare Dance fundraiser, featuring dinner and a country music jam session led by Beargrass, is March 25 at the American Legion Hall here.
The doors open at 5 p.m. followed by a fajita salad bar for dinner at 6 p.m. The music and dancing begins at 7 p.m., and the event also includes a pie contest, auctions and drawings for prizes.
ICare is a nonprofit organization that provides financial help to people in the Clearwater River area communities who are actively undergoing treatment for cancer.
Admission is $15 at the door.
March 25
CRAIGMONT — The 2017 Western Camas Prairie Youth and Community Benefit will feature a tri-tip steak dinner March 25 at the Craigmont Fire Station.
A cocktail hour and silent auction begin at 5 p.m., and dinner begins at 6 p.m. Games also begin at 5 p.m. and feature eight different guns as prizes.
Each $25 ticket includes dinner, two drink tickets and one entry for the door prize of a Ruger American Copper .30-06 Springfield.
Tickets may be purchased at Craigmont City Hall, Woody’s, Stonebraker McQuary, all in Craigmont, or Trestle Brewing Company in Ferdinand.
March 25
LEWISTON — “Up, Up and Away” is the theme of this year’s annual Lewiston Library Foundation Gala fundraiser, featuring hors d’oeuvres, drinks and music from 5 to 8 p.m. March 25 at the downtown library.
The event also features a tour of the building’s second-floor remodeling expansion. All proceeds will go toward that renovation.
Tickets are $100 per person, and the event will feature five drawings each for $1,000 toward travel arranged by Map Travel.
March 26
LEWISTON — The sixth annual Lewis-Clark Train Club Show is 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 26 at the Nez Perce County Fair Building here.
Organizers expect more than 40 vendors with more than 140 tables featuring all types of railroad items, model collectible trains and other collectibles.
Operating model trains of various scales will be on display and how-to clinics will be offered throughout the day.
Admission is $5 with children ages 12 and younger admitted free. The fair building is at 1229 Burrell Ave.
