CLARKSTON The 32nd annual Snake River Showcase juried fine art exhibit and sale opens with a reception from 4 to 7 p.m. Nov. 3 at the Valley Art Center here.
The show features more than 60 entries in a variety of media by more than 20 artists from around the region.
Refreshments and light appetizers will be served at the reception.
The free exhibit continues through Nov. 25 at the center, 842 Sixth St. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
Nov. 3
COLFAX Author Beverly Mader Wilson will give a presentation about her latest book, Mara: Pioneering in the Palouse Country, at noon Nov. 3 at the Whitman County Library here.
Wilson is the granddaughter of two pioneer families of the Palouse area. Her presentation also will highlight little known historical landmarks around Colfax and also, early farm life in the neighboring countryside.
Copies of her book will be available for sale, and the author will sign books after the presentation. Coffee and cookies will be served.
Nov. 3
PULLMMAN The 32nd annual Vocal Extravaganza, featuring Washington State University choral groups, will begin at 8 p.m. Nov. 3 in the Bryan Hall Theatre on the campus here.
The event, planned in conjunction with Dads Weekend, features performances by the five choral ensembles in the WSU School of Music, including the Madrigal Singers, Concert Choir, Tenor/Bass Choir, Treble Choir and Opera Workshop.
Cost is $10 regular price, $5 for seniors and students, and free for children age 12 and younger.
Nov. 5
UNIONTOWN An exhibit by members of the Palouse Watercolor Socius will open Nov. 5 with a reception from 1 to 3 p.m. at Artisans at the Dahmen Barn here.
The annual show is dedicated to the memory of the late Nick Bode, a longtime member of the artists group who lived in Moscow for many years. He died June 6.
The free exhibit continues through Nov. 26 and will feature many of Bodes works, including some not previously shown.
The barn is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday through Sunday.
Nov. 7
MOSCOW Quartetto Gelato, a classical music quartet, will play at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 7 in the University of Idaho Administration Building auditorium here.
It is the second concert of the Auditorium Chamber Music Series 31st season.
Members are Peter de Soto, violin and vocals; Alexander Sevastian, accordion, piano and bandoneon; Liza McLellan, cello; and Colin Maier, oboe.
Classical in training, eclectic by design, Quartetto Gelato not only thrills audiences with its multi-instrument mastery, but also offers the bonus of a brilliant operatic tenor, according to the groups website. The group, which released its first CD in 1994, has just released its ninth, titled All Original 100 Percent Canadian.
Admission is $25 regular price, $20 for seniors age 60 and older and $10 for students. Advance tickets are available at BookPeople of Moscow. The venue is at 851 Campus Drive.
