PULLMAN — The Reduced Shakespeare Company will take the audience through 600 years of history in 6,000 seconds when “The Complete History of America (abridged): Election Edition” comes to Washington State University at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 13 in Daggy Hall’s Jones Theatre here.
The classic Reduced Shakespeare Company show has been updated for this election year, according to a news release, and will hit historical highlights from Christopher Columbus to Neil Armstrong, George Washington to Barack Obama, and the Bering Strait to Baghdad. The performance contains some occasional bawdy language and mild innuendo.
The RSC began in 1981, and has created 10 stage shows, including “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged),” “The Complete History of America (abridged)” and “The Bible: The Complete Word of God (abridged).”
Reserved seating is $18 for adults, $15 for ages 60 and older, $9 for nonWSU students and youth, and free for WSU students with ID.
Tickets are on sale at TicketsWest outlets, including online at TicketsWest.com, by phone at (800) 325-SEAT and in person at WSU’s Beasley Coliseum (open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays) and the Rosauers supermarket in Lewiston.
Oct. 14
PULLMAN — Jazz Northwest, Washington State University’s faculty jazz group, will perform “Potpourri” at 8 p.m. Oct. 14 in Kimbrough Concert Hall on campus here.
Members are Gregory Yasinitsky, director of the WSU School of Music, saxophones; David Hagelganz, tenor saxophone; Brad David Ard, guitar; Brian Ward, electric piano; F. Dave Snider, electric and string bass; David Jarvis, drum set and vibes; and Sarah Miller, trombone.
The program will include “So Long Eric” by Charles Mingus, “I Love You” by Cole Porter and “Singular Vision” by Yasinitsky.
Cost at the door is $10 regular price, $5 for seniors and nonWSU students and free for WSU students with ID. All proceeds from this Faculty Artist Series concert go to fund music student scholarships.
Oct. 15
SPALDING — Kemo Scott, an artist and member of the Nez Perce Tribe, will speak at 1 p.m. Oct. 15 about his experience designing logos for the Nez Perce National Historical Park here.
Scott will speak about his experiences and the process of developing a series of graphic art designs that represent National Park Service sites found in Idaho, Oregon, and Montana, according to a news release. The free presentation is at the park’s visitor center here, 12 miles east of Lewiston at 39063 U.S. Highway 95.
The logos were unveiled during the park’s 50th anniversary in 2015 and have since been featured on park signs, banners, pins, and other items.
Oct. 15
LEWISTON — The next Valley Bluegrass Stage, planned for 7 p.m. Oct. 15, will feature Beargrass and Wanigan.
The show will be in the Clarkston High School auditorium, 401 Chestnut St.
Admission is $5 regular price, and free for ages 15 and younger.
Oct. 15
CLARKSTON — A gala event fundraiser to benefit Twin River Special Olympics will be from 5 to 11 p.m. Oct. 15 at the Clarkston Moose Lodge.
The event features live music by Marcos Dominguez, a taco bar and a silent auction.
Cost in advance is $15 each or $25 for a couple, while cost at the door is $18 and $28. The event is open to the public.
Funds raised from the gala will support eight different sports throughout the year, according to a news release.
Oct. 16
MOSCOW — The annual Sigma Alpha Iota Musicale begins at 4 p.m. Oct. 16 in Haddock Performance Hall on the University of Idaho campus here.
The program includes a variety of vocal and instrumental performances by SAI music fraternity alumnae and college members.
Featured performers include vocalists Pamela Bathurst, Stephanie Sant and Karen Hunt accompanied by pianists Eugene Cline and Susan Billin; and Melody Puller (piano), Del Hungerford (clarinet), Alan Espenschade (oboe), Cari Espenschade (alto saxophone) and Billin (organ).
There is no admission cost, but donations will be accepted in support of the Instrument Repair Fund for the SAI Alumnae chapter’s School Band Instrument Project, as well as to help in funding the annual $200 award to a distinguished college SAI member. For sale in the lobby will be several of the chapter’s instrument, and refreshments will be served following the performance, when attendees also can meet the performers.
