LEWISTON Homebrews and food will be served during the 21st annual Octoberfest, held from noon to 5 p.m. Oct. 1 at Lewistons Pioneer Park, 203 Fifth St.
The menu will feature German bratwurst, sauerkraut, German potato salad, applesauce and dessert, and food will be served from noon to 3 p.m.
On tap will be 20 different home-brewed micros and tickets will buy attendees six 5-ounce samples as well as a commemorative glass. Auf Ghets will play live music during the afternoon, which also will feature a German car show.
Contests during the event include a beer stein show and shine, best unusual bottle opener and best German costume.
Cost is $15, and tickets are available at Smokes & Suds in Lewiston and Riverport Brewery in Clarkston. The event is put on by the Hells Canyon Homebrewers.
Oct. 1
CLEARWATER The community will celebrate falls arrival with its fifth annual Grange Chili Feed from 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 1 at the Clearwater Grange Hall.
Proceeds from the fundraiser supports grange activities. The grange hall is along Sally Ann Road.
The menu will feature chili, corn bread, desserts and beverages. Donations will be accepted for the meal and a silent auction will also be held that evening.
The Elk City Wagon Road Museum will be open during the chili feed. Organizers are seeking donations of food as well as silent auction items for the event, and donations may be made by calling Carol Bonanno at (208) 926-7465.
Oct. 1
GENESEE The seventh annual Harvest Festival at historic White Spring Ranch near here, featuring live music and demonstrations, will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 1.
Shiloh Sharrard of Moscow will play country tunes while Jeanne McHale will play blues on the piano. The Washington State University Raptor Club and Hog Heaven Muzzleloaders will do demonstrations, and childrens activities will be available. The ranch buildings will be open for tours.
Chili dogs, a baked potato bar and apple cider will be served.
The event is free, though organizers as for donations of $5 or $4 and a can of food for the Genesee Food Bank.
The ranch is at U.S. Highway 95 and Borgen Road.
Oct. 4-5
PULLMAN Play auditions at Washington State University here, set for 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 4 and 5, are open to community members as well as students.
WSU Performing Arts will produce Eurydice by Sarah Ruhl and She Kills Monsters by Qui Nguyen, and auditions for those productions will be in Wadleigh Theatre at Daggy Hall.
Callbacks begin at 6 p.m. Oct. 6.
Six performances of Eurydice are scheduled for Dec. 1, 3, 8, 9 and 10. Six performances of She Kills Monsters will take place March 31, April 1, 7 and 8.
Actors of all experience levels, at least 14 years old and with no upper age limit, are welcome. No preparation is required and it is only necessary to attend one audition session, according to a news release. Eurydice reimagines the classic myth of Orpheus through the eyes of its heroine. Dying too young on her wedding day, Eurydice must journey to the underworld where she reunites with her father and struggles to remember her lost love.
She Kills Monsters, a comedic romp into the world of fantasy role-playing games, tells the story of Agnes Evans as she leaves her childhood home in Ohio following the death of her teenage sister, Tilly. Parking information and directions to Daggy Hall are available at www.performingarts.wsu.edu.
Oct. 5
LEWISTON Ivan Pecel, a Los Angeles-based juggler and comedian, will take the Silverthorne Theater stage at 8 p.m. Oct. 5 at Lewis-Clark State College here.
Pecel also appears on TV shows and commercials, and became nationally known when he auditioned for the first season of Americas Got Talent, making it to the semifinals.
Pecels act includes kicking a flaming torch over his head while blindfolded and juggling ping-pong balls with his mouth.
The performance is free.
