Cort LaMunyan 1

Pomeroy High School sophomore Cort LaMunyan, right, hands a check for $2,018.78 to Susan Rauch of the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation at a school assembly Dec. 15. The donation will go to the foundation at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center and to the Shriner’s Hospital in Spokane. Rauch in turn presented a plaque of appreciation to the LaMunyan family for their support of the Foundation. Cort helped raise the money by planning, organizing and carrying out two youth basketball tournaments in Pomeroy in November. Cort’s brother, Cody, a freshman at Washington State University, who was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 15, conceived and implemented the idea for the tournaments two years ago. Cort is carrying on the tradition in his name. Cort has been a patient at the Shriner’s Hospital (as have many Pomeroy families) and has benefitted from their generosity. Cort is the son of Jan Baune and Doug LaMunyan. (Mike Tom photo)
