Dave Steece

Presented by the University of Idaho's Prison Education Initiative in Renfrew 112. Steece entered prison in 2003 as a white supremacist with a 20-year-to-life sentence. Nearly a decade later, he experienced a revelation and dedicated his life to understanding and alleviating the injuries caused by hate. Now released from prison, he will discuss his personal experiences and share advice on how to talk about racism, discrimination and hate. He will be joined by Jason Zimmerman, a formerly incarcerated alcoholic devoted to sharing his story and helping others. Some of the material discussed may be triggering. Steece's book “Twenty to Life” will be sold for $15. Cash and card payments will be accepted. All proceeds will be donated to the PEI to support incarcerated students by mitigating educational costs not covered by Pell Grant funding.
