Rising stars in the Pacific Northwest hip hop scene will be in Pullman Friday, Feb. 22 for the Hip Hop Arts Festival.
Seattle rapper Dave B will headline the free festival at Washington State Universitys CUB Senior Ballroom. Probably best known for lending his voice to Macklemores single Corner Store, which led to appearances at Seattles KeyArena and on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Dave Bs versatility has been recognized by NPR and the Seattle Times. Also known as David Bowman, he first came to peoples attention in 2013 when he won the top prize in a 21-and-under battle of the bands contest sponsored by Seattles Museum of Pop Culture.
Other live performances include cutting-edge Tacoma hip-hop artist Bujemane and Seattles Stas THEE Boss, who learned the lyrics to Snoop Doggs Gin and Juice at age 8 and decided a hip hop career was her destiny. She signed with Sub Pop Records in 2011 releasing two albums.
The festival will also feature food, a DJ competition and a freestyle contest.
