There’s no better time than now to reap the healthy benefits of locally grown food. Small farms from around the region are showcasing their harvests at open air markets throughout the Quad-cities. You can even pick your own at places like the Washington State University orchard.

Pick Your Own Cherries in Pullman
Washington State University’s Tukey Orchard annual pick-your-own cherry sale is Friday and Saturday. People should bring their own containers to pick the fresh cherries. Hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and 10 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Due to the popularity of the sale, and the availability of the cherries, Friday and Saturday probably will be the only days scheduled for the event.
Prices are $2 per pound of dark cherries and pie cherries, and $3 per pound for Rainier cherries. Cash and check are the only payment methods accepted; no credit or debit cards will be taken. Currants, gooseberries and a limited supply of raspberries will also be available for $2.50 per pound. All orchard visitors are required to sign a risk and release form.
Tukey Orchard is located at the edge of the WSU Pullman campus, on Airport Road, past the WSU Bear Center.
Fresh Corn and Tomatoes in Clarkston
Ripe tomatoes and fresh corn in abundance will be at the Clarkston Downtown Farmers Market Saturday. The market is from 8 a.m. to noon in the Clarkston Twin River National Bank Parking Lot at Fifth and Sycamore Streets. Other locally grown produce, hand-made baked goods and crafts will be for sale. The market runs every Saturday through September.

Moscow: Home to Area’s Largest Saturday Market
At the Moscow Farmers Market there will be live music along with vendors selling all kinds of produce, baked goods, art and more. Musicians performing are Janis Carper and Cris Peterson along with Daniel Browne, Hours are 8:00 a.m. to 1 p.m. downtown.
Grangeville Farmers Market starts Aug. 4
Local Produce, crafts, food, art, and music can be found rain or shine Saturday mornings at Pioneer park in Grangeville starting Aug. 4 and running through Oct. 6. Hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Vendors and musicians interested in participating can contact market manager, Gina Campbell, (208) 983-2230.
Week Day Markets in Pullman, Moscow and Lewiston
Pullman’s Farmers Market is 3:30 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays in the Spot Shop Parking Lot at 240 NE Kamiaken St, The majority of growers are from the Palouse and Lewiston-Clarkston area. Nearly two-dozen vendors participate in the market each season in the market sponsored by the Pullman Chamber of Commerce.
The Moscow Co-op hosts a growers market every Tuesday from 4:30-6:30 p.m. through the third week of October in its parking lot. Food comes from small farms in Harvard, Troy, Deary, Clarkston, Colton, Pullman, and Moscow.
Lewiston’s Farmers Market is from 3 to 6 p.m. every Wednesday in the D Street Parking Lot across from Brackenbury Square downtown.
