Cat videos are among the of the most viewed internet content in the world.
And that is why there is CatVideoFest, an annual compilation of the latest, best cat videos from around the globe.
The festival screens internationally to raise money for cats in need. Friday, April 26, CatVideoFest comes to the Kenworthy Performing Arts Centre in Moscow with a portion of proceeds to be donated to the Whitman County Humane Society.
The festivals videos come from direct submissions, sourced animations, music videos and the internet, which has made many cats famous for their quirky looks or behavior.
Grumpy Cat is one of the internets most famous cats, but there are many more. Before you discover emerging cat stars at Fridays festival, heres a look at four cats who already laid claim to fame. Several even have their own lines of merchandise.
Sam
Lots of white cats have black markings but Sams happen to look exactly like eyebrows. Theyre the reason he has 245 thousand followers on Instagram. You can follow him @samhaseyebrows.
Venus
Venus the amazing chimera cat went from North-Carolina-dairy-farm-stray to fame and fortune after her owner started posting photographs of her on social media. Her face has two different sides because of a rare genetic phenomena, according to her Facebook page which has more than a million followers. The plush toy maker Gund made a limited-edition version of Venus that was retired in 2014.
Colonel Meow
Colonel Meow is now deceased but lives on on his YouTube channel, Colonel Meow, and his Facebook page, Colonel Meow and Friends. At one time the HimalayanPersian crossbreed held a Guinness World Record for longest fur on a cat but he was also beloved for his imperial glare.
Garfi
Sure, Grumpy Cat appears amusingly sullen but Garfi, who has been called the angriest cat in the world, looks downright furious. He lives in Turkey but you can view his wrath from afar via his Instagram or Facebook page Angry Cat Garfi.
