Kids' Fishing Day

Presented by Dworshak National Fish Hatchery and the Nez Perce Tribe. Free fishing, food and fun for kids 13 and younger. Fishing gear, bait and ice for your catch is provided, and there will be arts and crafts, and educational activities. Food will be available for purchase from the Teweepuu Community Center as a fundraiser. There will be a free shuttle with scheduled stops at the Main Street Tire overflow lot (Fair Barn Lot) and at Barney’s Foods. Parking is limited at Tunnel Pond, so please plan on using the shuttle. Event details and shuttle schedule can be found on the Facebook page below. The pond is stocked with more than 1,000 rainbow trout. Kids 13 and younger can fish without a permit, but all anglers are welcome to take advantage of a great day of fishing and a chance to connect with nature. A fishing pass for the pond is $5 per adult for single day and $25 for an annual permit for residents, $30 for nonresidents. Permits are available at Nez Perce Express II (near Clearwater River Casino), Dale & Jill’s Sporting Goods (Kamiah), Orofino Marketplace and The Guide Shop, or can be purchased online at nptfishpermits.com. This pass allows anglers to fish trout only. Tunnel pond is a “catch and keep” location, so if you catch it you keep it. Daily limit for Kids’ Fishing Day is three fish. Bring your family for a day of exploring, fishing and making memories. Tunnel Pond is serene and quiet place to relax and enjoy the outdoors managed by the Nez Perce Tribe. It is located 1 mile east of Orofino and is open sunrise to sunset.
