Movie shot in Pullman hits screens Jan. 31
"At Middleton" will be in theaters Jan. 31, along with being available On Demand and on iTunes.

"At Middleton," the romantic comedy filmed on location in Pullman and Spokane in 2012, is scheduled to open in theaters Jan. 31, including Village Centre Cinemas in Pullman. It will also be available On Demand, and iTunes.

The film (rated R) stars Andy Garcia and Vera Farmiga as two parents who meet while taking their 18-year-olds on a college campus tour. Parts of Washington State University's campus were used as locations in the film and about 250 people were recruited from around the region to be extras. Scenes shot at WSU were combined with scenes filmed at Gonzaga University in Spokane to create the film's fictional campus.

Most filming was done in the older part of campus at locations like the Entrance Arch; Honors, Murrow and Bryan halls; Thompson Hall; and the walkways between them; and the Hillside Cafe. At the time of filming the movie's working title was "Admissions."

In Variety, The Montreal Film Review noted the film's scenery as one of its better aspects: "The most attractive element in a polished if modest technical package is Emmanuel Kadosh’s sunlit photography, which makes the fictive Middleton (actually a blend of two Washington state campus locations) look like a very pleasant place indeed to spend four formative years."

The film’s producer and writer, Glenn German, chose WSU because the old portion of campus had a “small college” feel, Marc Dahlstrom, the movie’s line producer, told the Lewiston Tribune in 2012. German found the mix of brick and stone on campus beautiful and the landscaping amazing, Dahlstrom said.

The film's supporting cast includes Vera Farmiga's real-life sister, Taissa Farmiga ("American Horror Story"), Peter Riegert ("Dads," "Animal House"), and Tom Skerritt ("A River Runs Through It.")
