The Washington Idaho Symphony has named Kristin Lincoln its new executive director and elected to split the role of music conductor from managing the symphony.
The decision is a return to its traditional management structure, the board said in a news release. The symphonys former director and conductor, Jeremy Briggs Roberts, resigned in March.
Lincoln is a Pullman native and Washington State University graduate who returned to the area six years ago with her husband and son. She has worked with non-profit arts organizations for 18 years, most recently the Moscow Community Theatre and Pullman Civic Theatre. She is a board member of the Pullman theater and the Washington State Community Theatre Association.
The symphonys 47th season begins Sept. 22 with Danh Pham as guest conductor. The symphony will conduct a formal search for a permanent music director/conductor during its 48th season.
The symphony is made up of 40 to 60 musicians, depending on the score, and is the only professional orchestra within an 80-mile radius. Each of its season concerts is performed in two cities, Pullman and either Clarkston or Lewiston.
