Bio: Granger Smith has notched a name for himself as a star in the Texas music circuit where he’s amassed 10 top 10 singles. He turned his first studio album at 19 as a freshman at Texas A&M. His ninth studio album, “Dirt Road Driveway,” debuted at No. 1 on the iTunes Country Chart and No. 15 on the Top Billboard Country Albums Chart and became 2013’s best-selling, independent, country music album in digital sales.
Of Note: As a Texas A&M alum Smith wrote and recorded the song “We Bleed Maroon,” which can now be heard at all of the school’s home football games. It was also played on the Space Shuttle Discovery in 2008 at the request of astronaut Michael Fossum, a fellow Aggie.
Unusual Fact: Smith’s notorious “country boy” alter-ego, Earl Dibbles Jr., has been known to do the encore at Smith’s shows. Dibbles created a weekly “Dip Em and Pick Em” college football video segment that aired nationally on CBS Sports Network during the 2013 football season. A video introducing Dibbles has garnered more than 3 million views on YouTube.
Off Stage: Smith played three tours in Iraq and Kuwait for American soldiers and founded the annual Boot Walk with Granger Smith, a 100-mile Texas walk benefiting troops.
