Science fiction and forecasters of the future have promised jetpacks for a long time now, and some of us are getting impatient.

With all science and technology have given us, here are 10 things we’re hoping we get to see in our lifetime:

Jetpack: Rockets. On your back. We all want them yesterday.

Robot servants: It would be nice to live in a world where we didn’t have to clean anything unless we really wanted to.

Weather control: Imagine a world in which no one complains about the weather because we make it do what we want. Just don’t imagine the part where we have to decide who gets to choose what the weather is.

Personal flying cars: Whether they’re in the form of car, plane or hovercraft, we don’t care. What we do care about is flying wherever we want, whenever we want.

Personal space travel: While the moon may lack some of the amenities of a more tropical destination, we’d still like it as an option for a weekend trip.

Teleportation: Yeah, we have jet packs for quick trips around town and our flying cars for taking the family to grandma’s house across the state. But whether for quick visits or intergalactic travel, teleportation sure has its place too.

Instant food: Some people want to pack everything into a pill, others want a device that makes what we want instantly materialize in front of us. Either way, we want our food, and we want it now.

Medical advances: Yes, we’d like to cure the common cold and cancer. We’d also like to always feel good, grow replacement organs as needed and have flawless robots fix us automatically when we’re injured.

Underwater vacations: We’ve never found the lost city of Atlantis, but would it really be so hard to build?

Clean energy: We would like an energy source that doesn’t wreck this nice world we have. Please?
