Deanna Parker was the first person to correctly identify our June 15 Picture This challenge as the seahorses on top of the light poles at Pioneer Park in Lewiston.
The seahorses were a decorative element of gas lights cast and installed at Pioneer Park in 1910. They were standing when President William Howard Taft spoke in the park while on a campaign tour in 1911. Over the years, some of the seahorses disappeared. The ones there today were restored in 1985 by a Clarkston High School foundry class.
