The June talk for our Science on Tap series will be "Sneaky Viruses: Prophage and Tailocins in Bacteria," by Dr. Tracey Lee Peters of the University of Idaho. Bacterial genomes contain many elements from old viral infections. These genes can activate and kill the bacteria, or be used as a weapon to kill bacteria from other strains or species.
