The state of Idaho is getting some national notoriety after being the target of jokes in recent episodes of “Saturday Night Live.”

In the “Weekend Update” segment March 9 on the NBC comedy sketch show, host Colin Jost said that a new survey lists Boise as the best city in the country to live in. He follows that with saying the worst city once again is “Rat Orgy, Deleware.” (not a real place, at least it wasn’t Rat Orgy, Idaho).

This past week, April 13, Idaho received two mentions in the “Weekend Update” segment. “Travel expert” teenager Carrie Krum (played by Aidy Bryant), talked to host Michael Che about her spring break plans. She said, “Spring break means fun, sun and music on the beach, so you gotta head to Boise, Idaho.” However, her character then spends the rest of the sketch talking about her family members and their pets rather than what Boise has to offer, a subject Che keeps trying to steer her back to, but to no avail.

“Weekend Update” also refers to an Idaho city familiar to Inland 360 readers: Moscow. Jost said a new study named Moscow the best city to raise a family (of course, he mispronounced Moscow as Moss-cow); The worst, he said is “Handsy Uncle, Maryland” (not a real place but again, at least Idaho wasn’t the butt of the joke, this time).

So, either Idaho is growing as a trendy, new place to live and visit or it’s becoming a new target for “SNL.”
