Unencumbered by genre, Claude Bourbon blends the music of the ages

The well-traveled musician Claude Bourbon will bring his singular, genre-blending guitar style to Artisans at the Dahmen Barn Friday night in Uniontown.

Based in the United Kingdom, Bourbon takes musical inspiration from around the world, including Spain, the Middle East, Russia and Europe, combining this array of musical traditions with his blues roots for a result that is hard to place in any particular genre. His varying influences, which include flamenco guitarist Paco De Lucia, Ritchie Blackmore of Deep Purple and classical giant J.S. Bach, show how Bourbon’s style is inspired by many sources and periods, from modern jazz to medieval melodies, yet does not belong solely to any of them. He presents listeners with a different experience on each of his albums, including his latest, 2018’s “Cold River.”

An active musician for more than 20 years, Bourbon performs around the world and has shared the stage with Calvin Russell, Charlie Morgan, Herbie Armstrong and many others. From BBC U.K.: "...from haunting Spanish moods to lyrical, romantic jazz, Claude Bourbon provides both a rich evening of music for lovers, and a real treat for music lovers.”
