Professor Yukari Fujimoto (Meiji University, Tokyo) will introduce the history of the yuri (girls love) genre of manga, highlighting developments and changes to the genre over time and linking them to wider social and political changes. Fujimoto is a specialist on female manga genres and is a board member of the Japan Society for Studies in Cartoons and Comics. The talk is in the Clearwater-Whitewater Room in ISUB and is a part of the Habib Institute for Asian Studies' AsiaPOP! event.
