Joy's is located in Martin's Square, an outdoor-seating patio that serves two other eateries, Martin's Smokehouse and Slice & Biscuit.

MOSCOW -- A kid could easily define joy as an ice cream cone and a slide. A genius combined the two at Joy, an outdoor ice cream shack that opened downtown this spring.

You’ll find the shop’s service counter in the fenced courtyard of Martin’s Square, a charming outdoor-seating patio with a children’s playhouse and slide that also serves two other eateries: Martin’s Smokehouse with barbeque fare; and Slice & Biscuit, offering biscuits and pizza. It’s at the east corner of Main and Washington streets.

Longtimers will remember it as the former home of Martin’s Auto Services.

Joy serves Cascade Glacier Oregon Ice Cream from Eugene in flavors like Salted Caramel, Espresso Fudge, Peppermint, Lemon Meringue, Chocolate Peanut Butter and other standard and creative flavors. One scoop is $3, two scoops are $4, and kids’ scoops are $2 in a sugar cone, cake cone or bowl. Upgrade to a waffle cone for $4.50 or a milkshake, $5.50.

You can get complex and add some toppings, but with a shaded place for adults to sit and relax while kids eat and play, you’ve got all the ingredients for a good time had by all.
