"Dr. Suess' How The Grinch Stole Christmas," stayed in the running this week with one crumby vote.

Good grief, "A Charlie Brown Christmas" took the Christmas Movie Madness lead this week 84 to 18 against "Nightmare Before Christmas."

Tim Burton’s creepy Christmas kidnap-caper slid out of competition with the least number of votes.

It was a photo finish for one race: "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" against "How the Grinch Stole Christmas (1966)." The Grinch is a mean one, slinking ahead by one vote to finish 51 to 50 against the Lampoons. Jim Carrey’s Grinch in "Dr. Suess' How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)" wasn’t so lucky, being handily beat by "It's a Wonderful Life" 74 to 29.

Other losses were "Miracle on 34th Street (1947)," "A Muppet's Christmas Carol," "White Christmas," "Holiday Inn" and "The Santa Clause," all out of the running.

The next round will feature some tough match-ups between classic Christmas characters. Red-nosed Rudolph, a well-known but self-doubting misfit, will face off against the smiling, smug and self-assured cartoon Grinch. Naive “Frosty the Snowman” will take on Will Ferrell’s possibly more naive “Elf.” Charlie Brown will duke it out with Ralphie and his Red Ryder air rifle, and Kevin of “Home Alone” may have a trap laid for good old George Bailey.
