Image: Taken on Monday March 25. The weather was a genuine Spring day: fresh snow on Moscow Mt., a little hail several times, then all of a sudden blue sky!

Image: Tuesday morning outside our door we were presented with an intriguing riddle: which prints came first? The cat paws or the bird footprints? No matter the answer, the design is enchanting. We live at the 3,000' level on Moscow Mountain and we own the cats.

Image: We went for a Sunday drive and spotted this tree on Leland Road in Clearwater County. It gave us a smile as the pollen laden branches in the midst of a green field were about to burst forth in welcoming the Spring weather. But our hopes were dashed the next day as the temperatures dropped, the winds picked up speed and snow hit the higher elevations. All to remind us that February in still Winter.

Image: Last weekend the Palouse had a 'winter break' with blue skies, warm winds to melt the snow and blue skies to cheer the spirit. These puffy clouds sat on the top of Moscow Mountain guarding the snow that sat on the 4,000 foot level. This view was taken on Sunday February 4 from Brood Road.

Image: Saturday morning November 25th my husband opened the gate very carefully. The foggy weather and the 22 degree temperature had created a masterpiece of frozen and flocked delights. The picture perfect scenery lasted all day. Photo by David Purtee, Brood Road, Moscow.

Image: Taken on Tuesday evening May 2 as the thunderheads began to take shape. We are east of Moscow looking to the east toward Montana. The rain and lighting were interesting later in the evening.

Image: Western Bluebirds have returned and knocked at our windows to let us know this pair has returned. They are picking out their favorite birdhouse before the swallows return to the area. This picture was taken on May 1st just as the insects they love to munch on are coming out. Our home is at 3,000 feet on Moscow Mountain and perfect for the bright blue little friends.

Image: The Jupiter - Venus conjunction and a lucky break in the cloud cover provided an opportunity to see an amazing site on Wednesday March 1, 2023 at 7:30 pm PDT. We stood in our driveway looking at the lights which were over Moscow, Idaho. Jupiiter was on the left and Venus on the right. I was surprised my Apple Iphone 12 could capture this.

Image: Spring is here! The Redwing blackbirds have returned to our bird feeder so Spring is not far behind on Moscow Mountain. This view looks eastward toward Troy from our home on Moscow Mountain. After last week's cold temperatures, the birds and their unmistakable calls, are welcomed. Taken on Friday, February 24, 2023.

Image: Following the wires home. This picture reflects the cold as the ice covered power lines stand out against the low clouds heading toward Moscow Mountain as we drove home on December 18th. The trees encrusted with ice from the fog have contributed to a colder than normal December but also some beautiful white landscapes.

A simple ceremony with a small audience was held on Saturday, December 17th, under a clear sky. The Troy Historical Society sponsored the project for the seven rural cemeteries in the Troy Cemetery District.
