Glass mosaic salmon and other river-dwelling creatures by Spokane Valley artist Melissa Cole are prominent public art in downtown Lewiston. Now the artist is returning to the area to create a mural for the Moscow Public Library, and the public is invited to help create it at a series of upcoming workshops.
Coles mosaic glass mural is set to be installed and unveiled in June at the library. Those who attend the free workshops will help build the piece. Workshops are limited to 30 people each time, and reservations are required. All ages are welcome, although children ages 12 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.
Workshop days, times and locations are:
10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 10, Moscow Public Library, 110 S. Jefferson St. 4 to 8 p.m. March 23, 1912 Center Arts Room, 412 E. Third St. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 24, 1912 Center Arts Room, 412 E. Third St.
Reservations can be made by calling the Moscow City Arts Department at (208) 883-7000, ext. 7204 or by emailing dscallorn@ci.moscow.id.us. People are asked to include their name; the workshop dates they plan to attend; and, if reserving space for a group, the number of attendees participating in each workshop.
