The City of Moscow is looking for an artistic touch for new manhole covers and tree grates to be installed throughout the city starting this spring.
The City of Moscow and the Moscow Arts Commission are seeking designs for manhole covers and tree grates. Entries must be received by 5 p.m. Monday, March 18.
A jury will select one design for storm sewer manhole covers and up to three designs for sanitary sewer manhole covers and tree grates. The covers and grates will be installed the week of June 10 on College Street in preparation for the Moscow Artwalk opening reception June 14. Manufacturing will be done by Hern Iron Works in Coeur d'Alene.
This call is open only to individuals 18 years of age or older who live in Latah County, Nez Perce County, Asotin County, Whitman County, or neighboring tribes (Nez Perce or Coeur d’Alene).
The winning entries becomes the property of the City of Moscow and the artist(s) will be required to sign an Art Purchase Agreement transferring all rights of the work to the City of Moscow and a Public Art Conservation Record. The selected artist(s) will be paid a $100 stipend for each design selected.
