Ziggy Marley, son of Bob Marley has won multiple Grammy Awards and branched into writing and activism.

Ziggy Marley has confirmed a performance Saturday, Sept. 26 at Washington State University in Pullman as part of the annual Humanitas Festival. More information about the performance will be released at a later date.

The seven-time Grammy winner, Emmy Winner, humanitarian, singer, songwriter and producer,  has released 12 albums. As the son of Bob Marley his exposure to music began as a child sitting in on his father's recording sessions. His band  Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers released eight albums earning three Grammys for hits like  "Look Who’s Dancing," "Tomorrow People" and "Tumbling Down."

His  solo album, "Love is My Religion," won a 2006 Grammy for Best Reggae Album. It was followed by "Family Time" which won a Grammy for Best Children's Album. His 2012 live album “Ziggy Marley In Concert,” recently earned him his sixth Grammy for “Best Reggae Album.”

Among his other projects are his comic book "Marijuanaman" and Ziggy Marley Organics, a GMO-free product line including flavored coconut oils and hemp seed snacks.  He also leads the charity U.R.G.E. (Unlimited Resources Giving Enlightenment), a non-profit that benefits efforts in Jamaica, Ethiopia and other developing nations.  Its missions range from building new schools to operating health clinics to supporting charities like Mary’s Child, a center for abused and neglected girls.


Tim McGraw

Tickets go on sale Friday for the multiplatinum country artist's stop in Spokane as part of his Shotgun Rider Tour. McGraw will perform at 7 p.m. Sept. 3 at the Spokane Arena, 720 W. Mallon Ave. Tickets go on sale online at www.livenation.com at 10 a.m. Friday. Tickets range from $54.50 to $69.50. McGraw has released 13 studio albums, 10 of which have reached No. 1 on the Top Country Albums Charts. He has also won three Grammy Awards, 15 Academy of Country Music Awards, 11 Country Music Association Awards and 10 American Music Awards. McGraw has also ventured into the acting world, starring alongside Sandra Bullock in "The Blind Side."

Mariachi Divas

The Grammy Award-winning multicultural ensemble will perform at 7:30 p.m. May 2 in Beasley Coliseum on the Washington State University campus. Tickets are $20 for adults, $16 for seniors ages 60 and older, $10 for non-WSU students and youth, and free for WSU students with valid ID. Advance tickets are on sale and can be purchased online at www.ticketwest.com. Mariachi Divas' first Grammy was won in 2009 for "Canciones de Amor." The all-female group won a second Grammy in 2014 for its ninth album, "A Mi Manera."

Less than Jake and Reel Big Fish

The ska and punk bands will perform at 7:30 p.m. May 14 at the Knitting Factory Concert House, 919 W. Sprague Ave., Spokane. Tickets go on sale online at www.ticketweb.com at 10 a.m. Friday. Less Than Jake hails from Florida and has been together since 1992. The band's fifth studio album, "Anthem," was released in 2003 and has been its most commercially successful to date, featuring singles "She's Gonna Break Soon" and "The Science of Selling Yourself Short." Reel Big Fish, from Huntington Beach, Calif., is best known for its 1997 hit, "Sell Out," which reached No. 10 on the Billboard U.S. alternative charts.

Tina's Hope for a Cure

In partnership with the Cystinosis Research Foundation, Tina's Hope for a Cure is holding a fundraising event from 6 to 9 p.m. May 16 at Roger's Toyota Scion, 2203 16th Ave., Lewiston. Tickets are available for $50 and can be purchased at Orchards Shoe Shop, Basalt Cellars, Rogers Toyota Scion, Fuchs' Flower and Garden Center, and Stonebracker McQuary. There will be wine and beer tasting, international cuisine and live music. Proceeds of the event go to the Cystinosis Research Foundation.
