Portland guitarist Terry Robb, known for his acoustic blues and signature fingerpicking style, will perform next Thursday at One World Cafe.
Robb’s style is best described as a combination of ragtime blues, country, swing and free jazz. He has won multiple awards, including the Muddy Award, from the Cascade Blues Association, for Best Acoustic Guitarist, which he won for 19 years straight from 1992 to 2011.
After 2011, the award was renamed the “Terry Robb” Acoustic Guitar Muddy Award, to honor his many accomplishments within the genre. Robb was inducted into both the Oregon Music Hall of Fame and the Cascade Blues Association Hall of Fame and was also granted the Muddy Award for lifetime achievement. He has more than 15 studio albums to his name and has toured across United States, Europe and Canada, sharing the stage with greats like Steve Miller, B.B. King, Bo Diddley and many more.
Robb started performing at a young age, playing with Ramblin Rex of Frank Zappa, Canned Heat’s Henry Vestine and John Fahey. He has produced many of Fahey’s critically acclaimed hits.
