It’s shaping up to be a good week of music, meals and more.
March 1-3
PULLMAN — The 2018 Festival of Contemporary Art Music at Washington State University here will feature three days of free concerts, including a world premier composition, March 1-3.
The festival schedule includes:
March 1: 11 a.m. — Student Composers Concert, Kimbrough Concert Hall 8 p.m. — Faculty Composers Concert, Bryan Hall; features the world premiere of professor David Jarvis’s new work “Wynwood Project No. 2,” performed by the WSU Symphonic Wind Ensemble, along with works by faculty members Greg Yasinitsky, Ryan Hare and Scott Blasco
March 2: 3 p.m. — ElectroAcoustic Concert, Kimbrough Concert Hall; program includes Caroline Miller’s “Subsong,” Gabrielle Cerberville’s “But Where is the Lamb?” Richard Johnson’s video work “Socavino” and recent music by WSU students Merina Gordon, Jake Kargl and Kirill Polyanskiy, and faculty member Scott Blasco
March 3: 8 p.m. — WSU Symphony Orchestra and WSU faculty performing the music of guest composer Laura Schwendinger, Bryan Hall Theatre. Schwendinger is professor of composition at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
March 3
MOSCOW — The 13th season of Winter Market will conclude with the final event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 3 at the 1912 Center here, 412 E. Third St.
More than 30 artisan food and craft vendors will fill the great room, the balcony and the outdoor plaza.
Lunch will be available for purchase from MELA, a Moscow restaurant specializing in Bangladeshi cuisine.
Tours of the unfinished upper floors of the center will start on the hour at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., noon and 1 p.m. in the Senior Center.
March 3
KAMIAH — Have you “bean” to Kamiah lately? March 3 might just be the day because a chili feed is on the menu from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Kamiah Senior Center.
In addition to chili or soup, diners can enjoy cornbread, ice cream, coffee or punch. Cost is $5 regular price and $3 for children 9 and younger.
A bake sale also is planned at the event.
The senior center is at 125 N. Maple St.
March 4
UNIONTOWN — Jeri McGuire of Spokane will sign copies of her latest book, “Images of America: Asotin County,” from noon to 3 p.m. March 4 at Artisans at the Dahmen Barn here.
The books are available for purchase in the barn’s gift shop.
McGuire, who collects historical photographs, was born in Lewiston and also is the author of “Images of America: Clarkston.”
The barn is at 419 N. Park Way.
March 6
PULLMAN — The next installment of Science Pub will feature a discussion of genetics from 6 to 7 p.m. March 6 at Paradise Creek Brewery here.
The night’s topic is “Nature or Nurture: What’s Genetics Got to Do with It?” and will feature Amit Dhingra and Jon Oatley, both with the Washington State University Entrepreneurial Faculty Ambassadors (EFA) Program. Dhingra is associate professor of Genomics and Biotechnology and also serves as chairman of the EFA. Oatley is the director of the Center for Reproductive Biology and an associate professor in the School of Molecular Biosciences at WSU.
The event is sponsored by the Palouse Discovery Science Center, and the brewery is at 245 S.E. Paradise St.
