A new bench on Pullman’s Itani Trail will be dedicated south of the crosswalk on SW Panorama Drive near Ramsey Court. Street parking is available on Panorama Drive.
Donated to city of Pullman Parks in memory of Ken Spitzer by his wife, Nancy Spitzer, and sponsored by Pullman Civic Trust, the bench will provide respite “to all the bird watchers, hikers, and nature lovers on the Palouse," according to Nancy Spitzer.
Ken Spitzer retired as associate vice provost for research at WSU in 2007, then served for three years as senior adviser for the Shock Physics Applied Sciences Lab at WSU Spokane. He was an avid hiker, bird watcher and nature photographer, as well as supporter of the arts in Pullman before his death in 2018.
