WA Riders on IA Ride

KDCollins
Drs. Brian (WSU Physics) and Deborah (Moscow Medical) Collins of Pullman, Washington ride high atop a bicycle with monster wheels of straw in Colfax, Iowa during the 2006 RAGBRAI bicycle event. RAGBRAI stands for the Register's Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa. It is a fun ride during the last full week of July from the Missouri River on the west coast of Iowa to the Mississippi River on the east coast involving 10,000 to 15,000 riders from all over the US and several other countries. Drs. Collins rode the entire 450 miles on their tandem with real wheels. Most riders overnight in tents or, the lucky ones, in air-conditioned homes of townspeople along the official route. The photo was taken by Keith Collins on July 28, 2006.
