For the second consecutive year, Palouse Bicycle Collective rolled past the competition to earn the Inland 360 Readers' Choice Award as the region's Best Bike Shop. The Moscow cooperative won the 2017 award by collecting 290 of the 363 votes cast by Inland 360 readers March 21-29.
A nonprofit that opened in late 2013, Palouse Bicycle Collective sells mostly used or recycled bikes. Mechanics are available to do repairs, and with the purchase of a membership, the public can use the shop's tools to fix their own rides. The shop's mission, featured on its website (http://www.palousebicycle.org/) is "to serve the Palouse by providing bicycle recycling, resources, hands-on education and sustainable transportation."
Head mechanic Jon LaMoreaux said the shop's growth has been steady since its debut. "Every year our crew gets a little better and the customers are finding us easier," LaMoreaux said.
Palouse Bicycle Collective is open 11 a.m to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. It is at 224 W. Third St. in Moscow. Look for the bikes hanging from the eaves and lined up on the lawn.
