EVENTS ROUNDUP: Music, film and and an MLK Day celebration

Moscow-based acoustic artists The Chelseas and Will Fontaine are set to perform from 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Kenworthy Performing Arts Centre’s backstage space, 508 S. Main St.

The Chelseas are a folk band, and Fontaine is billed as an alternative folk-rock artist.

Tickets, $12, are at kenworthypac.square.site. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the backstage entrance is in the alley behind the Kenworthy.


Palouse Cult Film Revival and Moscow Comedy have joined forces for Moscow Lebowski Fest on Saturday, with a variety of activities centered on the cult classic Coen brothers’ 1998 film “The Big Lebowski.”

The fest begins at 4 p.m. with bowling, pizza and White Russians (drinks are not included in ticket prices) at Zeppos, 780 SE Bishop Blvd. in Pullman, followed by a 7:30 p.m. movie screening at the Kenworthy Performing Arts Centre, 508 S. Main St., Moscow.

Attendees are encouraged to dress up as their favorite character from the movie, with costume and trivia contests set for after the movie. The night ends with a raffle and prizes.

A variety of sounds will be showcased during Local Musicians Night from 7-10 p.m. Saturday at Brock’s Smirking Goat, 504 Main St., Lewiston.

Artists include Ashton Richmond, Tucker Weatherly, TJ Richardson, Shania Rales and Running With The Boyz.


A Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration is set for 6-7:30 p.m. Monday at the Lewiston YWCA, 300 Main St.

Jeff Guillory, Retired Director of Diver sity and Inclusion at Washington State University, will lead a discussion titled “Kingian Nonviolence: It Starts with Me,” about nonviolent strategies for addressing racial injustices.

Attendees will “discover practical ways to integrate nonviolence into our daily lives and contribute to a more inclusive and respectful community,” according to a YWCA news release.
